Description
Anbrila Vineyard & Winery
Anbrila Vineyard & Winery, nestled in the picturesque Chehalem Mountains AVA, represents a true labor of love and dedication to the art and science of winemaking. Each bottle from Anbrila is a testament to the family's journey and commitment to excellence in Oregon’s burgeoning wine scene.
History and Background
In September of 1985, the journey of Anbrila began, initially as a family estate raising polled Hereford cows and horses. The dream of transforming the estate into a vineyard emerged, inspired by the region’s wine pioneers but was deferred due to family and business commitments. Finally, in 2011, the vine planting materialized, with the first harvest taking place in 2015. Dr. Margaret Boone, a dedicated winemaker with roots in science and horticulture, alongside Rob Fernandez, who oversees the general and business operations, helm the venture. Their collaborative spirit is bolstered by invaluable mentorship from neighboring winemaker, Mike Hallock of Carabella Vineyard.
Vineyard Details and Wine Production
Located at an elevation of 526 feet, Anbrila’s estate enjoys southeast exposure, rocky Jory soil, and a gentle slope — conditions that are ideal for cultivating vineyards. The inaugural planting saw the introduction of four estate clones: Dijon 777, Dijon 667, Dijon 828, and Pommard. These clones contribute to the complex cuvees for which Anbrila has become known.
