Originally acquired by C.W. and Mary Davenport in 1961, this family-run farm began its journey with peaches and apples. The transition to a vineyard was sparked by a simple aesthetic appreciation by Charlee Glinka, wife of the grandson and current operator, Greg Shipe. Grapes were first planted in 1990, and what began as an amateur wine-making venture by Greg and Charlee in 1997 has grown into a substantial commercial operation.

Davenport Winery, nestled on a picturesque 24-acre vineyard along with 5 acres of apples, celebrates the diversity of viticulture with 13 varieties of grapes. These grape varieties are specifically chosen for their resilience in extreme weather conditions, supporting a strong regional identity. Davenport Winery proudly produces over 40 different wines, encompassing a full spectrum from red and blush to white, and from sweet to dry. Notably, all their wines are made from 100% Kansas-grown fruits.
