Description
Janemark Winery & Vineyard Overview
History and Background
Janemark Winery & Vineyard, nestled in the lush landscapes of Maryland, is the brainchild of Jane and Mark Vogt. This couple's longstanding passion for wine led them to establish their vineyard on historical family land. After marrying in 1986 and spending significant time in Napa, California, they returned to Maryland, bringing a slice of Napa's winemaking prowess with them. Their commitment to sustainability is evident, as they transformed tobacco fields into thriving vineyards, starting in Spring 2013 with the planting of their first vines.
Vineyard Details and Wine Production
- Foxes Den Vineyard: This vineyard holds a special place as it resides on Jane's ancestral property acquired in 1877. It primarily grows Albariño, Vidal, and Chambourcin grapes.
- Four Degrees Vineyard: Established in Spring 2014, it features the tasting barn and grows Barbera, Petit Manseng, and more. The barn itself is a historic structure revamped with the help of the Amish community, originally builders of the barn.
- Production: Janemark's winemaking began modestly in their garage in 2016 with 165 cases and has since expanded to 1,500 cases annually from their 2020-built production barn.
