1. History and Background
The name LaNoue DuBois (pronounced LahNew DewBwah) translates to “LaNoue of the Woods” in French. This name honors both the LaNoue family and the Woods family, the latter once owning the estate surrounding the vineyard. The winery’s location—previously part of the Woods Estate—complements its traditional name by incorporating materials from the Woods Family Farm into the architectural aesthetics, specifically in the design of the Tasting Room.
2. Vineyard Details and Wine Production
LaNoue DuBois is committed to sustainable farming on its 15 acres of estate-planted vines, which are nurtured using a solar-powered drip irrigation system. Emphasizing eco-friendly practices, all weeding is conducted manually without the use of herbicides or pesticides. The vineyard specializes in unique varieties:
- Marechal Foch
